MJ Event Gear was contracted to handle the lighting and audio requirements for the much anticipated unveiling of Sun International’s Time Square.
The launch was marked by a dramatic light and pyrotechnics display on Saturday 1 April 2017. Lighting design and show operated by Kurt Du Preez.
Lighting fixtures used: 24 x Robe BMFL, 12 x Robe MMX, 24 x Robe Pointe, 36 x Robe 600 Ledwash, 12 x Robe 100 Ledbeam, 12 x Clay Paky Shapie, 10 x Mac 2000 Wash, 4 x Phillips Nitro. Controll GrandMA 2 Lite.
The dazzling light display culminated with fireworks bursting into the night sky. Quiet fireworks were used in line with Sun International’s community commitment.
The official ribbon cutting, hailing the start of a new era of entertainment in Tshwane, took place on Saturday morning, 1 April 2017.
From 12h00 onwards, the festival area between Time Square and Central Square was abuzz with activity. Jacaranda FM broadcast live from the venue and there was a string of bands in the mix. Taking to the stage during the afternoon were Adelle Nqueto, Sutherland, Majozi, Bobby van Jaarsveld and Desmond and the Tutus. The music festival and lighting display were free to attend.
